The Fort Worth Botanic Gardens Are Now Under New Management

Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – A major change has come to Fort Worth’s 86 year old Botanic Garden. Management of the city’s signature garden changed Thursday from the city to the non-profit Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT). Spokeswoman Christy Eckler says the merger of public and private will usher in a new era for the Botanic Garden. BRIT’s goal is to give Fort Worth a world class botanic garden, and Eckler says it will happen, but it will take some time. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden attracts 300,000 visitors a year. The new management team wants to grow that to 500,000.
