The State Fair of Texas Opens Drive Thru Experience

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The State Fair of Texas is open for drive thru.

Familiar sights and sounds were seen and heard at Fair Park on Friday. But, instead of navigating strollers and dodging pre-teens on the midway it’s sedans and SUV’s.

The coronavirus pandemic prompted the full fair to be canceled.

Fair goers were with specific reasons why they couldn’t miss out.

“It’s a family tradition,” a Dallas native said.

“He’s been waiting all year to see Big Tex,” a mom said while standing next to her son.

Tickets for the drive thru experience start at just over $60 per vehicle. You can get a picture with Big Tex and munch on some fried oreos.

“What else are you going to do?” asked a Dallas woman who said she’s never missed a fair.

The drive thru events run weekends through October 18.
