Dallas Man Admits to Setting Fire to Escape Intruders Holding Him Hostage in His Home

Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Police have arrested a 59-year old man who admitted to intentionally setting fire to his townhouse on Holly Hills drive early Sunday.

According to the arrest affidavit Bruce Hamilton called 9-1-1 to self-report that he had started the blaze around 4am, and that he wanted to meet officers at a nearby QT on Greenville Avenue in NE Dallas.

During the encounter, police say Hamilton admitted to setting clothes on fire in a closet to “escape intruders who were holding him hostage.”

The fire caused extensive damage to several units in the two-story building. No one was hurt.

Hamilton is charged with arson.
