Coronavirus Pandemic Continues to Slow in DFW

(WBAP/KLIF) — The Coronavirus pandemic has significantly slowed in Texas, with just over 3,400 additional positive tests on Saturday.  That brings the overall total to more than 686,000 positive tests without removing duplicate tests for the same patient.

Dallas county reported 156 positive COVID-19 tests, Saturday, for a total of more than 77,000 cases. Tarrant county listed 387 new positives for over 46,500, Collin county with 83 newly confirmed tests for nearly 13,000, while Denton county reported 60 new positive tests for 11,500 overall confirmed positives.  Denton county also reported that 41 of the 60 new positive tests came from active cases. No other North Texas county is reporting that distinction.

The state reported 135 new deaths attributed to the virus for a death toll of almost 15,000.  Dallas county had 4 additional deaths for a total of 994, Tarrant county reports 633 deaths, Collin county 137 fatalities, and Denton 107.

The mortality rate for the Metroplex is 1.2%, with Tarrant county reporting the highest at 1.4% and Denton county the lowest with a 0.9% fatality rate.  The Texas death rate is 2.2%.
