More COVID-Relief Funding Available for Fort Worth Bars, Music Venues and Non-Profits

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Applications for the second round of Preserve the Fort small business grants is now open through October 2nd.

Robert Sturns Economic Development Director for the City of Fort Worth says the first round of grants provided $6.5 million to 882 small and minority owned businesses hit by the pandemic.

the second round is for medium sized businesses with a special focus on bars and music venues closed by the Governor’s order as well as non-profits and performance arts venues that have been impacted. “They are struggling, really don’t have a way to bring in revenue, trying to keep people on the payroll and still have to worry about rent and overhead costs,” said Sturns.

Sturns said they have close to $9 million remaining and the grants are broken up into 4 different categories.

Small businesses with less than 500 employees are eligible for a grant capped at $150k, bars and music venues are eligible for a grant of up to $100k, performance arts and non-profits are eligible for a grant of up to $100k and general non-profits are eligible for reimbursement of PPE and other Covid-related expenses of up to $50k.
