DFW COVID-19 Cases Approach 124,000

(WBAP/KLIF) — More than 1,600 new cases of the Coronavirus have popped up in the D-F-W area.  Dallas county listed 787 newly infected residents, Tarrant 460, while Collin and Centon counties combined for 370 new COVID-19 cases.  Over 500 of positive tests in Dallas county are actually backlogged tests from June.

The Metroplex is closing in on 124,000 overall cases. Dallas county reported over 66,000 positive tests, Tarrant county almost 38,500, Collin county more than 10,000, and Denton county nearly 8,600.  Texas has over 550,000 cases and nearly 10,300 deaths.

The COVID-19 mortality rate continues to drop across North Texas.  Dallas county’s mortality rate has dropped below 1.2% for the first time, while Collin county’s fatality rate has dropped under 1%. The Metroplex as a whole has a 1.2% Coronavirus mortality rate.

On the down side, the D-F-W area saw another 22 residents die of the virus, 10 of those in Dallas county where officials report 787 fatalities. Tarrant county has 462 deaths, Collin county 102, and Denton 90.  in the Metroplex, over 1,400 have died of COVID-19.
