Dallas Zoo Furloughs Staff

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Zoo will furlough one-quarter of its staff and implement other cost-saving strategies as it tries to deal with the financial turmoil caused from the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to the furloughs of more than 100 full-time employees, senior members will have pay cuts of up to 15 percent and long-term employees are being offered early-retirement incentives.

The parks Adventure Safari Monorail and the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park will be closed until further notice.

Revenue is expected to be down more than 25 percent for the foreseeable future, Dallas Zoo officials announce Thursday.

The Dallas Zoo was closed for three months but reopened in May.
