Lake Worth ISD Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19, Miller Elementary Campus Closed for Cleaning

LAKE WORTH  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The fall semester is set to begin in the Lake Worth Independent School District next week and an employee at one campus has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement from the district, the employee worked at the Miller Elementary School and, as a result, the campus is closed Monday for a deep cleaning.

The building will reopen to employees Tuesday.

“Based on the information we have gathered, it has been determined that the end of the 14-day incubation period for anyone possibly exposed on the property to the employee is Thursday, August 13, 2020,” said Superintendent Dr. Mary Neshyba.

The district urged staff to monitor their health, follow CDC guidelines for people who have had close contact and to contact their primary care physician if they develop symptoms.

Dr. Neshyba said the district is monitoring the situation closely and hopes for a successful recovery for the infected staff member.

School begins next Wednesday, August 19th, parents have until Friday to choose between virtual or in-person learning for their kids.
