Ben Bolt High School has become the first school in the state of Texas to cancel its sports program due to COVID-19.

The Class 2A school is located west of Corpus Christi.

According to superintendent Mike A Barriera, the decision was made after much consideration and ”out of an abundance of caution”.

Twelve states have decided to push back their high school seasons to spring, including California, Virginia and Washington.
