FORT WORTH – A tropical storm warning has been issued for the South Texas Gulf Coast, with expectations a storm storm system, now upgraded to a tropical storm, will dump up to 12 inches of rainfall in some areas of South Texas between Corpus Christi and Brownsville this weekend.
Tropical Storm Hannah is expected to make landfall Saturday afternoon near Corpus Christi, packing 50 mile an hour sustained winds about 20 hours ahead of expected landfall. Hannah is expected to dump an average of 6-8 inches of rain in most areas of the lower Gulf Coast, though Meteorologist Juan Hernandez says rainfall amounts of as much as 12 inches could be possible.
A tropical storm warning has been issued from the mouth of the Rio Grande to San Luis Pass. Strong winds are capable of doing some moderate damage.
If you intend on traveling in South Texas forecasters advise heavy rainfall could be possible from the area of impact northward beyond San Antonio this weekend.
