Worldwide: Texas is the 11th Most Active COVID-19 Hotspot

Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – U.S. COVID-19 cases soared past 3-million Wednesday, accounting for 25% of the world case count for a country that comprises only 4% of world’s population.

In Texas, coronavirus cases soared past the 210-thousand as sister station WFAA-TV report, “If the lone star state were a country, it would be the world’s 11th-most active hotspot. The state reported a record 10,000+ on Tuesday, July 7. Texas joined New York and Florida as the only other states to break the 10,000 daily case threshold..

Texas’ COVID-19 case count is worse than countries like Panama, Kuwait, Armenia, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Chile and South Africa.

Meantime, Texas has reported more than 2,715 deaths, which is one of the lowest in the US where death are happening at the rate of 9.5 per 100,000 people.

Additinally, state health officials are providing little detailed information on the spread of coronavirus in Texas child care facilities. The extend of the spread is still not known.

Speaking about the surge in cases and hospitalizations, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said, “To state the obvious, COVID-19 is now spreading at an unacceptable rate in Texas, and it must be corralled,” Abbott said during a news conference at the Texas Capitol in Austin.”
