Irving Police Involved in a Deadly 4th of July Shootout

(WBAP/KLIF) — Irving police were involved in a deadly 4th of July shootout, Saturday morning. Police officers were called at approximately 10:00 am to a home near the Irving Heights neighborhood where a man had reportedly shot his wife.

When police arrived they found a woman with a gunshot wound, while her husband had fled with a firearm.  Officers searched the area and found the suspect in the backyard of a nearby building. That’s when police announced themselves and attempted to enter the backyard.

The suspect then opened fire on the officers.  That’s when police returned fire and the suspect was struck and killed at the scene. The man’s wife was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  No officers were injured in the gunfight.
