North Texas COVID-19 Cases Increasing, Deaths Falling

(WBAP/KLIF) — North Texas’ four most populous counties report nearly 41,000 positive cases of COVID-19.  Testing stations reported another 1,373 positive tests, Wednesday with Tarrant county again leading the way with 606 newly infected residents.

Dallas county showed 544 newly confirmed cases, while Collin county had 117, and Denton 106.  611 of the 691 North Texas Coronavirus deaths have occurred in Dallas and Tarrant counties. Dallas county listed 380 fatalities, Tarrant 231, while Collin and Denton counties combined for 80 deaths.

Although cases of COVID-19 are increasing in the Metroplex, the number of deaths has fallen.  Texas shows a declining number of deaths attributed to the virus since the pandemic’s early spring peak. The mortality rate for DFW is at 1.7%, indicating fewer deaths caused by the virus.

Dallas county has nearly 22,000 cases and 380 deaths, while Tarrant county is just under 13,000 cases and 231 deaths.  Collin county lists over 3,100 cases and 43 deaths, while Denton is nearing 3,000 infections and 37 fatalities.
