Trump to Announce Executive Actions on Policing as Congress Seeks Policy Changes

Washington AP (WBAP/KLIF) – President Donald Trump is set to announce executive actions on police procedures, ,  in response to mass demonstrations over the deaths of George Floyd and other black Americans.

That, as the Senate join the House in preparing a separate packages dealing with policing changes.  House Democrats crafted a set of proposals over two weeks ago.

Last week During a House Judiciary Committee hearing last week George Floyd’s younger brother Philonise declared, “They lynched my brother.”

“That was a modern-day lynching, in broad daylight,” Floyd said, adding, “I still need time to grieve.”

Floyd appeared before the panel as the House prepares to vote on a wide-ranging set of police reforms proposed by Democrats called the “Justice in Policing Act.”

The hearing was the first public congressional meeting on policing following the killing of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis on May 25.

Meantime, it’s a sudden shift for the Republican Party, as the crush of activity that shows how quickly the mass protests over police violence and racial prejudice are transforming national politics.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will gavel in Tuesday afternoon for an extensive hearing on “Police Use of Force and Community Relations.”
