DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The City Manager of Dallas says the curfew in Central Dallas is going away, effective today.
In a statement on the city’s website, T.C. Broadnax said after consulting with Chief Renee Hall and the city council, he signed an order lifting the curfew in Central Dallas effective Saturday, June 6, 2020. The curfew was in effect over the last several days from 7p.m. through 6a.m. It followed declarations of a state of disaster by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson on May 31st.
“We’ve seen many moving and peaceful protests over the last few days, some of which I joined,? said Broadnax. We heard feedback from residents ready to open and conduct business in central Dallas and we agree it’s time. The City of Dallas and the Dallas Police Department continue to respect and protect the rights of peaceful demonstrators. We must also remember we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and Dallas residents are safest at home” said Broadnax.
