DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – A 2 year old girl was ejected from a car struck by another vehicle in a late Saturday night crash in Garland; 3 others including two adults and a 3 year old boy were injured.
Garland Police indicate a squad car followed a suspected drunk driver who they say ignored lights and sirens and other efforts to pull the vehicle over. As it made it’s way through an intersection, police say it struck a white Mustang carrying the victims. The 2 year old girl was ejected from the Mustang and believed dead at the scene.
A Department of Public Safety helicopter was called in to keep track of the suspected vehicle, which official say at times exceeded 100 miles an hour, and that the driver, 19 year old Adrian Maldonado, turned off his vehicle’s headlights as he drove on Interstate 635. As the chase progressed, that driver hit the Mustang with the victims inside on Northwest Highway nearing Shiloh Road.
The passenger in the suspect vehicle is charged with evading arrest; the driver, Maldonado, faces charges of intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault and evading arrest.
