DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – President Donald Trump said Thursday that he’s confident Texas will bounce back from the economic impacts of the coronavirus.
The President joined WBAP’s ‘Rick Roberts Show’ and emphasized that the recent hardships in the Texas energy industry can be blamed on demand.
“You take a look at the roads, said President Trump. “There’s no cars on the road, there’s no factories open. Essentially, there’s no anything.”
The President said confidently that energy companies will be back.
“One thing about energy,” the President said to Roberts. “It’s boom, bust. You’re the richest guy in town and then the next day you say, can anybody give me a bed for the evening.”
He noted that the national reserve is stocking up on oil at a good price.
“I think 75 million barrels is what we’re going to be filling it up with,” President Trump said.
The President also praised Texas Governor Greg Abbott on his phased approach to reopen the state.
“He’s a fantastic man,” said President Trump. He’s strong, but he’s done it smart.”
Movie theaters, restaurants, and retailers in Texas will be able to open at 25% occupancy on May 1.
