COVID-19 Sends Fort Worth Herd Out to Pasture

(WBAP/KLIF) — FORT WORTH, TX — Coronavirus has shut down most amusement parks, tourist attractions, and travel destinations across the United States.  The COVID-19 pandemic is even effecting tourism at the Fort Worth Stockyards. Visitors have lined the streets for decades to watch longhorn cattle twice daily.  However, city orders have canceled the drives for the time being.

Trail boss Kristen Jaworski says her reduced staff of five are awaiting the return of tourists.  She also says that without visitors to watch the longhorn cattle, it drive makes life is different.

According to WFAA, the Fort Worth Herd is not the only operation shut down as businesses and stores in the area are also hurting.

The non-profit organization that runs on donations is working with a reduced crew of about five people.  Currently, they take care of the legendary livestock while they wait for the return of visitors.
