WBAP/KLIF – ASSOCIATED PRESS – Dr. Anthony Fauci, considered the top expert in the U S on the novel coronavirus pandemic, says Americans could see 100 to possibly 200 thousand deaths from Covid 19, and millions of infections from the virus.
On CNN Sunday, Fauci says the pandemic remains a moving target; still very difficult to predict what will eventually be the outcome. “We’re going to have millions of cases”, calling for the maintaining of social distancing requirements to slow the spread of the virus “…for a matter of weeks. It’s not going to be tomorrow and it’s certainly not going to be next week”, he said.
Fauci continues to call for social distancing rules to remain in place for an undetermined amount of time, to be driven by movement of the virus. Sunday, Fauci said lifting the restrictions should be guided in part by testing kit availability; the kind that will be able to diagnose a patient as positive or negative for Covid 19 in as few as 15 minutes. Currently, it can take several days to return a test outcome.
