Mark Cuban Plans to Pay Arena Employees Affected by Coronavirus Event Cancellations

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban plans to pay arena employees after the league suspended games indefinitely over concern surrounding the potential spread of coronavirus.

The NBA’s decision came after Utah Jazz Center Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus. One of his teammates also tested positive. Cuban stands behind the league’s decision to suspend games but is worried about the concession workers and ushers who don’t work without events.

“They get paid by the hour and this was their source of income,” Cuban said.

The owner is hammering out the details of how it could work.

“We’ve already started the process of having a program in place,” Cuban insisted.

According to Cuban, an option to justify the pay could be using the employees help with volunteer work.
