FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF News) – The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Collin County has risen to three.
Collin County Health Care Services said Tuesday the updated number includes the initial case of a Frisco man reported Monday, as well as his wife and three-year-old child, one of family’s four children.
All are in stable condition.
Six family members and a close family contact were tested Monday within hours of the father reporting he had tested “presumptive positive” for COVID-19.
One child’s test came back inconclusive and doctors are awaiting further testing results.
Health officials said the father is believed to have contracted the virus during a recent trip to California last month but did not show symptoms during his flight home, therefore he did not pose a risk to other passengers.
CCHCS also confirmed that both of the family’s school-age children did not have symptoms and were not contagious while they attended school.
Frisco ISD said Monday it’s disinfecting Polly Tadlock Elementary School while students are on spring break.
The district said it will continue to take extra precautions to help keep students and staff healthy.
“Our campus custodial staff will also continue to disinfect campuses each day with hospital grade products to help offset the spread of communicable illnesses, but it takes all of us to ensure healthy school environments.”
CCHCS said epidemiology staff are monitoring the cases and are working to identify anyone who may have had contact with the confirmed cases while the patients were experiencing symptoms.
Health officials will contact those who have been identified.
CCHCS wants to remind residents that the risk of community spread of the virus remains low.
