Dallas County Lab Will Soon Test For Coronavirus

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) –  Dallas County Health and Human Services now has the first lab in Texas that can test for the coronavirus.  In a news release issued Wednesday, DCHHS said it has been working with partners at the state and federal levels to bring the capability to the Local Response Network laboratory.

County Judge Clay Jenkins said, “We’ve dramatically strengthened Dallas County’s testing capability over the last five years and this specific testing capacity will decrease our test turnaround from 72 hours to less than a day.”  The testing should start soon.  Currently, all samples are sent to the CDC lab in Atlanta for testing.  Right now there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Dallas County.
