Mansfield, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A settlement has been reached with a Mansfield teacher who alleged that she was discriminated against because of her sexual orientation in 2017.

Art teacher Stacy Bailey will get a letter of recommendation and a 100-thousand dollar payment.

She was removed from her classroom for showing students at an Arlington elementary school family pictures of her dog, family and her future wife. A parent accused her of promoting a homosexual lifestyle.

She made comments alongside her attorney, Jason Smith:

Bailey had been worked at Charlotte Anderson Elementary for 10 years before the incident, and was twice named Teacher of the Year.

She has since been working at a high school within the district since 2018.

All parties deny any wrongdoing or liability.

The settlement includes LGBTQ training for the district’s HR department.

The school board approved the settlement Monday night, according to Donald Williams, associate superintendent of communications .

β€œThe Mansfield ISD School Board has voted on an agreement to settle the case in question in an amicable and beneficial manner,

All parties deny any wrongdoing or liability, but wish to resolve their disputes to avoid the time, expense, stress and other impacts of continuing litigation, which would interfere with the mission of educating the students of MISD.”
