Shots Fired At A North Texas Dave & Buster’s Sunday Afternoon

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Multiple people reported hearing gunshots at a North Texas Dave & Buster’s Sunday afternoon. According to witnesses, someone reportedly fired several shots in the parking lot around 2p.m., near Highway 75 & Walnut Hill Lane.

Everyone inside the restaurant was on lockdown, and then later evacuated while police responded to the scene and tried to figure out what happened.

A statement from Dallas Police confirmed that “two groups of individuals were involved in an verbal altercation inside of the Dave and Busters. Both groups of individuals decided to take there disagreement outside. While on their way outside, one of the suspects turned around and opened fire, striking a victim.  The victim was transported to a local hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue with a non-life threatening injury.  At this time, officers have one suspect in custody.  This continues to be an active investigation.”

Former host on KLIF 570AM, Grant Stinchfield was at that location with his son, when the chaos erupted.  He talked to WBAP about those scary moments after the shooting when he was trying to find his son. “I can tell you there is no worse feeling for a parent than to be looking for his son when people are screaming and running, (saying) there is a shooter inside Dave & Buster’s.”

According to Stinchfield there were people arguing and it was rumored that the argument may have been over a stuffed animal.

Stinchfield and his son are safe, but he adds “I always carry my firearm.  The incident is another reminder to me that we cannot ever be victims.  This could happen anytime.  It was 2 o’clock on a Sunday afternoon at Dave & Buster’s.”
