Lawsuit Against a TCU Dean, Trustees & 5 Others Alleges Assault and Racial Discrimination

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A 20-year old Texas Christian University student has filed a lawsuit against school’s Board of Trustees and five employees, alleging repeated assault and racial discrimination.

The student, referred to as Jane Doe No. 1, claims that she was repeatedly assaulted, racially discriminated against.

The allegations, primarily against Diane Snow, the dean of TCU’s John V. Roach Honors College claims the incidents happened during a trip to Washington, DC.

She says the university took away her merit-based scholarship without giving a reason, segregated her from white classmates, falsely accused her of plagiarism and ignored her reports of racism.

The lawsuit also delves into the university’s ‘history of racism.

In addition to Diane Snow, the lawuit names Frederick Gooding, an assistant professor of African-American studies; Rob Garnett, an associate dean of the honors college; Darron Turner, chief inclusion officer and Title IX director; and Russell Mack, an instructor. Aaron Chimbel, the dean of the Jandoli School of Communication at St. Bonaventure University and a former TCU faculty member, is also named as a defendant.

In a statement, TCU officials said that they are focused on “creating an inclusive environment,” and acknowledged its “complex history that they are “actively examining.”
