Washington (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Congressman John Ratcliff says he sees a quick acquittal of President Trump.
Ratcliff, a new member Trump’s impeachment team says he doesn’t think there is a need for witnesses.
Ratcliffe says he’s been getting lots of questions about what many are calling lies from House impeachment manager, Rep Adam Schiff.
“People know that he’s saying things that aren’t established by fact in the record [ … ] The thought is the first day let Adam Schiff have as much rope as he wants, then reign him in as it goes further.”
Ratcliff Says Trump’s legal team will have an opportunity to correct Schiff’s “distortions‘ during the opening arguments.
Listen, as Rep. Ratcliff talks about perceived lies from Rep. Adam Schiff and his predictions on what’s next.
Meantime, several political observers reacted to falsehoods voiced by Trump’s legal team on Day 1 of the trial.
That, as Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy tweeted during a break that he “hoped that president’s lawyers remember they are addressing the u.s. senate, and personal insults and falsehoods will not serve them well.”
At one point during the proceedings, Chief Justice John Roberts admonished both sides for lack of decorum.
