Plano, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The Collin County Sheriff’s Office says it found a “shocking quantity” of child pornography on devices belonging to a Plano man.

Christopher Michael Chairez, 38 (Collin County Jail)

An undercover investigation led deputies to 38-year old Christopher Michael Chairez who is accused of possessing 18-terabytes child porn with the intent to promote it.

In perspective, a terabyte is equal to 1-thousand gigabytes; an average smartphone user consumes about 1.4 gigabytes a month.

Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner says the discovery highlights the importance of parents “diligently monitoring their children’s online activities.

“The shocking quantity of child pornography seized in this investigation reminds us how important it is for parents to diligently monitor their children’s on-line activities. Child predators seek to exploit children whose parents don’t know, or don’t care about, the identities of the individuals who communicate with them over the web. We ask all parents to be vigilant and report any suspicious social-media activity to law enforcement.”

Chairez, whose bail had been set at $30,000 bonded out of the Collin County Jail on Wednesday.
