National Weather Service Fort Worth Advises What to Do if Caught on the Road During Severe Weather

NORTH TEXAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Severe weather is forecasted to sweep across North Texas Friday into early Saturday bringing thunderstorms some severe with large hail, damaging winds, possible tornadoes and flash flooding.

The National Weather Service Fort Worth wants to make sure residents are prepared in the event they’re on the road when the weather strikes.

The agency issued these possibly life-saving tips.

  • Never stop under bridges or an overpass to protect yourself from hail.
  • Keep in mind, bridges offer no protection from wind-driven hail.
  • Your parked car will block traffic and may cause several car accidents.
  • Seek shelter in a strong sturdy building if possible.

The agency also advises you to have several ways of receiving warnings i.e. cell phones and radios and have a plan ready when the weather gets dangerous.
