A Famously Quiet Weather Pattern for A North Texas New Year’s Eve

FORT WORTH – That old saying “if you don’t like the weather in Texas, stick around a while; it’ll change” will not hold true for North Texas this New Year’s Eve and on New Year’s day.  The current quiet weather North Texans are experiencing will stick around, with northern U.S. locations suffering through intense snowstorms battering the nation’s northernmost regions, with northeast and western areas heavily impacted by winter precipitation.

Forecaster Juan Hernandez predicts no precipitation in Texas, but rather, a New Year’s Eve midnight temperature of 49F, and an early New Year’s Day temperature bottoming out in the upper 30s.

Comparatively,  a winter storm will dump up to 12 or more inches of snow in Upstate New York , the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes.  As much as a quarter of an inch of ice is possible in some areas of New York, Vermont and Northern New England.

On the west coast, a new storm will unleash widespread rain and heavy mountain snows Tuesday through Wednesday; with more than a foot possible in the mountains.  Travel is expected in much of the nation’s northern regions to be difficult and in some cases, nearly impossible.
