Dallas Art Culture Inspires New Mavs ‘City Edition’ Jerseys

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The culture of Dallas is on full display through a new initiative launched by the NBA.

The Dallas Mavericks are officially unveiling the team’s new ‘City Edition’ jerseys and hardwood floor. Muralist Tex Moton designed the neon green and blue graffiti logo.

“We tied back the artistic element of Dallas kind of visualized through a Deep Ellum experience,” said Moton. “That’s where you are getting the graffiti inspired font. And the color story is almost a homage to the lineage of the Dallas Mavericks organization.”

More than 20 local artists from across Dallas created their own art inspired by the new jerseys. The ‘Art + Basketball’ collection was on display in front of the American Airlines Center ahead of Tuesday night’s game where the jerseys debuted.

The new jerseys will be worn in 22 games this season, including 13 home games. During the home games the hardwood floor will also feature the design Moton created.
