Arlington Officer Involved in Deadly Shooting Resigns

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The Arlington Police Officer involved in what appeared to be an accidental shooting death of a homeless woman has resigned from the department.

Arlington Police said Friday that Ravi Singh submitted his resignation and the case has been sent to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. Body cam footage of the August shooting shows the Officer shoot at Margarita Brooks’ dog as it charged him. Brooks was struck and killed.

After the August shooting Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson said the Officer didn’t mean to shoot Brooks.

“Ms. Brooks was never the intended target of the Officer’s use of force,” Chief Johnson said.

Singh hasn’t been criminally charged but the case will be presented to a Grand Jury.  Brooks was the daughter of an Arlington Fire Captain.
