
DENTON (WBAP/KLIF) – A five year veteran of the Denton Police Department is recovering in the hospital after being shot Tuesday morning during a traffic stop.
Police said Tuesday Officer Urbano Rodriguez was shot in the head and leg during an exchange of gunfire with two suspects who are now in Police custody. Following a short Police pursuit, Officers from Carrollton and Farmers Branch Police Departments arrested 44-year-old Michele Stacey and 33-year-old Antwon Pinkston. Both sustained gunshot wounds to their arms during this morning’s exchange. They have been medically cleared and transported to the Denton County Jail. Pinkston has been charged with Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer. Stacey is currently being held on a Parole Violation.
“The Denton Police Department would like to thank our fellow law enforcement agencies for their outpouring of support during this time, as well as all organizations and individuals who have offered their assistance,” said Chief Frank Dixon. “We would also like to thank the Medical City Denton staff who are taking excellent care of our wounded officer.”
The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation into the shooting with the assistance of the Major Crimes Unit of the Denton Police Department.
