DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – North Texans have begun to assess the damage brought by severe storms that rocked parts of the metroplex Sunday night.
The National Weather Service confirmed Monday that an EF-3 tornado touched down in Dallas.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott extended state resources on Monday.
“To help Texans respond to the devastation caused by storms [Sunday] I have issued a Disaster Declaration for 16 counties,” said Governor Abbott. “This provides resources to speed the recovery.”
Meanwhile, residents from Dallas to Richardson are left pulling tree limbs from roadways and repairing broken glass in homes and businesses.
“We’ve got lots of damage,” said one Richardson resident. Roof damage and stuctural damage.”
The recovery is underway but with extensive damage in neighborhoods across the area, it could take some time for repairs to be made.
“To rebuild some of these houses will take at least months,” a Dallas woman said while tearing up.
Crews in several North Texas cities are working to restore power and traffic signals.
