Botham Jeans Brother Embraces Amber Guyger After Sentencing

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Amber Guyger faces 10 years in prison for the shooting death of Botham Jean.

After the verdict was read, Botham’s brother, Brandt jean addressed Guyger during victim impact statements. He told Guyger that he forgave her and to give her life to Christ because that’s what Bo would’ve wanted. “If you truly are sorry, I forgive you and if you go to God and ask him he will forgive you,” said Brandt Jean. “I personally want the best for you and I didn’t want to say this in front of my family but I don’t even want you to go to jail,” he said.

District Attorney John Creuzot addressed the media after victim impact statements. He said he expected a longer sentence but respects the decision of the jury. “They gave us their time, they gave this case their attention and they reached what they thought was a just verdict and we are going to move on and I think the Jean family is moving on also,” he said.

Guyger will have to serve at least five of the 10 years before being eligible for parole.
