
ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The Arlington police Department is pursuing the use of graffiti along a city street as a hate crime.
Arlington Police Chief Wil Johnson said Tuesday that several signs along Arkansas Lane in East Arlington were spray painted with racial slurs and symbols. The graffiti was also scene behind a local business in the area.
“It was bias based symbols and words trying to prompt a community reaction,” Chief Johnson said.
Chief Johnson emphasized that the department won’t tolerate acts of hate and are Officers searching for the people responsible. Investigators are looking at surveillance in the area and interviewing possible witnesses.
“It’s clear to me that this was a hate crime,” Chief Johnson said.
