EL PASO (WBAP/KLIF) – After meeting with victims of the Dayton mass shooting Wednesday morning in Ohio, President Trump will visit El Paso to meet with victims and first responders of the Wal Mart massacre that left 22 people dead.
Many locals have mixed emotions ahead of the President’s arrival. A number of elected officials have asked President Trump to “stay away” from El Paso, claiming that what they call “racist rhetoric” from the President is partly to blame for the shooting.
“I think it’s too soon,” said an El Paso woman. “I Think the community needs to digest what happened.”
Some El Paso native’s are supportive of the trip.
“It’s never to soon to offer your thoughts and prayers,” said Jordan Flores. “It’s never to soon to come and deliver a message about what has happened here.”
Congresswoman Veronica Escobar plans to hold a rally during the President’s visit.
President Trump is expected to arrive in El Paso Wednesday afternoon.
