Timpa Family Hopeful Body Cam Video Will Shed Light on 2016 Death

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Recently released Police body-cam footage is bringing hope to the family of a man who died in Dallas Police custody.

Vicki Timpa, Attorney Geoff Henley

Tony Timpa died in August of 2016 after being pinned to ground by a Dallas Police Officer for more than 14 minutes. Body cam video captured other Officers laughing and making jokes when Timpa became unresponsive.

Timpa’s Mother, Vicki Timpa, said Friday that she hasn’t slept much since seeing the video.

“That cop had his knee in the middle of [Tony’s] back, rocking, just to make sure he kills him” said Timpa. “How could anyone be so cruel?”

The Officers involved were indicted after the incident, charges were recently dropped by the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. Vicki Timpa continues to pursue a civil lawsuit against four of the Officers. She’s hopeful but the video sheds new light on what happened to Tony.
