Rendon, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A weak earthquake was rattled Tarrant County Monday.
A the 2.6 trembler was recorded in Rendon, west of Mansfield, shortly after noon Monday.
The depth of the quake was about 3 miles, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The Dallas Morning News reports that vibrations of weak earthquakes are similar to those of a passing truck, according to the scale.
There were no immediate reports of any damage.
The USGS is asking anyone who felt the earthquake to report it online.
Mansfield is one of a few Texas cities that engage in fracking, a process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas. The practice has been linked to small earthquakes around the country.
