FORT WORTH – WBAP/KLIF – More than 700 pets will be offered for adoption by Fort Worth’s Animal Services and the Humane Society of North Texas. At or far over capacity for months now, the two shelters are holding a dual event to place pets from snakes to rats to dogs and cats for just $10. That fee covers spay or neutering, microchipping and vaccinations.
With HSNT, Cassie Lackey says horses will be next door to the event at the Will Rogers Coliseum, though the horses are not offered at the $10 adoption fee price.
Last December, the shelters working together at another MEGA Pet Adoption event found families for more than 800 pets. Dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, purebreds, mixed breeds; rats, snakes, guinea pigs and hamsters are offered for adoption at this weekend’s events.
The fee is greatly reduced to alleviate severe overcrowding; many purebred dogs can fetch as much as $285 under most day to day circumstances by these agencies.
The event is free and open to the public from 10 am to 6 pm at the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, both Saturday and Sunday.
