DENTON (WBAP/KLIF)- The Denton Salvation Army is in need of food to stock up their shelves.

It’s Summer time, school is out and more family members are needing food and support from Denton’s Salvation Army.

Lieutenant Whitney Houston says currently their shelves are bare, trying to keep up with the demand

“I don’t want them to think we aren’t trying to grab all the resources we can because we really are… it’s just that time of the year…we are trying out best,” she said.

Shelves not during summer months, for comparison

They are needing non perishable foods: canned items, pasta and rice. She said if you do give vegetables or meat make sure it’s frozen.

You can drop off your donations at the location on East McKinney Street.
