Conflicting Information Revealed in 9-11 Call of Deep Ellum Assault

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Exclusive audio obtained by our media partner, WFAA-TV, of the 9-11 call made on the night of a highly publicized assault of a woman in Deep Ellum appears to counter her details of events.

During the altercation over where L’Daijohnique Lee’s car was parked — she is heard using racial slurs. Beating suspect Austin Shuffield says that Lee attacked him before he retaliated.

“She’s assaulting my car right now, she threatened to mace me and then she swung at me and hit me in the face so I defended myself after that.”

While Lee told police that Shuffield knocked her cell phone out of her hand when she tried to call 9-11, he claims that she was actually trying to call friends to come “shoot up my vehicle.” He also says that she was using racial slurs, which is counter to what Lee’s attorney’s have said.

One of Lee’s attorneys tells the station she didn’t see anything that would have legally allowed [him] to place his hands on her.

Shuffield’s attorney said, “We now hear that she’s calling him a white cracker. She uses the N-word to him, which is exactly the opposite of what [they’re] trying to put out there.”

Viral video of part of the incident, picks up with images of Shuffield violently punching the woman several times.

Meantime, the Dallas County DA declined to pursue a charge against Lee. Shuffield is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and several other misdemeanor charges.
