LONDON  (WBAP/KLIF News) – WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been found guilty of skipping bail by a British judge at Westminster Magistrates’ Court following his arrest from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London Thursday morning on a 2012 warrant.

Judge Michael Snow rendered the verdict shortly after the arrest and Assange faces up to 12 months in prison for the crime.

Assange’s arrest came after the Ecuadorian government withdrew his asylum.

Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno released a video statement about the decision and said “the hostile and threatening declarations of his allied organization against Ecuador and especially the transgression of international treaties have led the situation to a point where the asylum of Mr. Assange is unsustainable and no longer viable.”

The news comes on the heels of the U.S. government charging Assange with conspiracy to hack a government computer, he’s accused of helping Chelsea Manning allegedly break into classified computers.

Manning has been jailed since March for refusing to testify in the WikiLeaks case.

The government also alleges Assange released thousands of classified military and domestic cables through WikiLeaks.

He will remain in custody ahead of a May 2nd extradition hearing. His attorney said her client plans to fight extradition to the United States.
