Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A Dallas judge has delayed the murder trial of former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger who is charged in the 2018 shooting death of her neighbor, Botham Jean.

The trial was to begin August 12th was rescheduled to September 23rd to accommodate scheduling issues with one of Guyger’s lawyers.

Attorney Toby Shook is also handling a federal trial beginning July 29 that is expected to last two to three weeks. Without the delay, the defense’s motion said, Shook could not properly prepare to defend Guyger.

Guyger told police that she mistakenly entered Jean’s South Side Flats apartment thinking it was her own on September 6, 2018; and, subsequently shot him after mistaking him for an intruder.
