Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – A Fort Worth firearm parts distributor shredded tens of thousands — millions of dollars worth — of bump stocks Tuesday as a nationwide ban took effect.
RW Arms destroyed 60-thousand of the controversial devices that essentially turned legal weapons into machines guns, bringing the company into compliance with the ban. It’s a ban by the Trump administration that remains controversial among gun rights advocates.
The ban was ordered by the Trump administration after a Las Vegas mass shooting almost two years ago, that killed 59 people and wounded hundreds of others.
RW Arms requested that the ATF be present as the devices were being shredded. Agency officials told our media partner, WFAA-TV that it may have been the single largest supply of the device in the country.
