Dallas, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – There is fallout over the arrest of a former Deep Ellum bartender who is charged with allegedly beating a woman who he says blocked his way out of a parking log early Wednesday.
Dozens of angry protesters took to the streets Saturday in Deep Ellum to disrupt the entertainment district in a call for the incident to be prosecuted as a hate crime due to the racials slurs he yelled during the attack.

The Next Generation Action Network is demanding an upgrade to felony assault & hate crime for the racial slurs doing the attack.
In a Facebook post, the organization said:
“There is a public safety and criminal justice meeting tomorrow morning (this morning) at City Hall. In making sure that our frustrations are heard regarding the light misdemeanor charges given to Austin Shuffield who beat a woman and brandished a firearm to further intimidate her we will gather there to speak directly with city hall.”
