White Settlement, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – White Settlement Police arrested a man after they say he confessed to killing his roommate and keeping the body rolled in a rug for 2 days.
Police say 40-year old Jeffrey Cory admitted to police on Friday that he shot shot 43-year old Erik Fernandez on Wednesday during an argument.
In interview from the Tarrant County Jail with WFAA-TV, Cory said that his gun accidentally went off, striking his roommate who, according to Cory didn’t die right away. What he says he did next is alarming.
“I didn’t want him to suffer because [beep] so I put one to the back of the head to make sure he was dead so he wouldn’t suffer.”
Cory initially made up details of the incident, telling police that his roommate had gone missing for several days, and that he found his body in his room.
Cory now faces a murder charge and a $75,000 bond.
