Woman & Son With Rare Skin Disorder Booted From AA Flight

El Paso, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – American Airlines has apologized after a woman and child with a rare skin disorder were booted from a flight from El Paso to Dallas Thursday.

Jordan Flake and her son suffer from the genetic skin disease – Ichthyosis [ik-thee-oh-sis] – which causes dead skin cells to accumulate on the skin’s surface.

Flake shared the experience on Facebook, saying that two employees had quietly asked her about the rash before takeoff; and, had asked if she had note from a doctor okaying them to fly.

The Fort Worth-based airline offered sincere apologies to Mrs. Flake and her son:

“Our goal at American Airlines is to create a welcoming environment for all of our customers. We sincerely apologize to Ms. Flake and her son for the experience they had Thursday, and our team has begun an investigation into the matter. Our Customer Relations team has already spoken to her directly and upgraded them on their American flights. We will also be refunding the cost of her trip as well.”
