DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The confederate memorial at Pioneer Park in Downtown Dallas could be nearing removal.
The city’s Landmark Commission voted Monday to approve the City Council’s request to take the monument down. It had a say in the matter because the monument sits in a historic district.
Dallas residents on both sides of the debate spoke to the commission before its vote. The decision could be appealed.
Estimated cost to take the statue down is close to $500,000.
