Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Despite suffering a loss in court this month, Texas Central says their plans remain on track for the proposed high-speed rail line connecting Dallas to Houston.
A Leon County judge sided with Texas landowners who are pushing back against the company’s claims to eminent domain for land needed to build the line; at issue, is whether or not Texas Central operates as a railroad. The judge said, at this point, it does not, and therefore has no eminent domain access.
A Dallas lawyer representing the landowners told the Houston Chronicle that the ruling means the project of can’t be finished.
Blake Beckham the ruling means the project is “off track.”
“This project cannot be finished without eminent domain,” he said.
Texas Central is appealing the ruling but in the meantime, planning continues.
