Voting is Underway for City of Ft. Worth Workers

FT. WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) -City of Ft. Worth workers have their chance to sound off starting today on a proposal to fix the struggling pension plan.

The plan currently has over a billion dollars in unfunded liability.

Starting today and going through February 22nd city employees can vote on a plan to keep the program viable. Part of the proposal includes increasing employee contributions and extending the drop period from five to six years

More than 50 percent of the city’s employees must vote in favor of the plan for it to be approved. If the local measure fails state lawmakers will come up with a plan to save the pension program.
